The famous Takumi attention to detail is everywhere in the Lexus sphere, from the beautiful hand-sanded paintwork, to the assembly of electric motors, to the leather seats inspired by the traditional Japanese quilting technique of ‘sashiko’.
The masters work together with advanced technology to create exceptional vehicles, using their highly trained senses to detect even the most minute imperfections.
The Takumi can see marks on paintwork invisible to the untrained eye and possess hearing that tunes an engine with surgical precision.
Training and education are key to becoming a Takumi master and the Lexus Tahara Plant has a dedicated room where workers can attend lectures and test their skills and dexterity.

STUNNING DESIGN
The distinctive design of the UX 300e is a masterclass in style.
It’s all there, from the dramatic Lexus ‘signature spindle grille’ at the front, to the sleek and sporty silhouette and aerodynamic 18-inch alloy wheels, giving a refreshing new perspective on electric car mobility.
The rear is stylishly constructed with a blade lightbar that creates a continuous line of illumination and, when combined with the L-shaped design at each end, gives the UX 300e a sharp, futuristic look.
The interior is just as exciting, inspired by the traditional Japanese concept of ‘engawa’, or the harmonious melding of indoor and outdoor spaces. It’s an idea most evident in the driver’s seat, where the instrument panel appears to continue through the windscreen into the bonnet.
Clever and thoughtful details are everywhere: the centre console wireless charging tray; the larger luggage space than the UX hybrid electric vehicle; the central speaker in the cabin that feeds back the natural acceleration sound of the EV motor; and the Head-Up display that projects a range of frequently checked information on the lower windshield glass.
WORLD CLASS PERFORMANCE
When you press ‘power’ and grip the steering wheel, the electrified approach across the whole vehicle becomes apparent.
Under the bonnet the UX 300e is powered by an advanced electric motor and when you push down on the accelerator you feel the instant torque, giving you swift linear acceleration and confident cornering.
A 54.35kWh lithium-ion battery has an approximate driving range of 360km**– perfect for the city and beyond – and can be charged to 75 per cent in about 50 minutes via a 50kW DC charge station.
Every element of the driving experience has been electrified - from the smoothness of the drivetrain (with Drive Mode Select) to the heated steering wheel, power adjustable front seats with heating and ventilation functions, power sunroof and rear privacy glass.
ADVANCED SAFETY
With all the production overseen by a Takumi master, the vehicles are not only about aesthetics.
The same painstaking approach is taken with all aspects of the vehicle, especially the safety.
The UX 300e is equipped with the latest Lexus Safety System+, which includes a Pre-Collision system, Lane Tracing Assist, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Adaptive High-beam System and Road Sign Assist.
The Pre-Collision system with Autonomous Emergency Braking uses a radar sensor and a camera to determine whether a frontal collision with another vehicle is imminent, warning you with an audio and visual alert if necessary. It will also automatically apply the brakes if these warnings are ignored
The Blind Spot Monitor (BSM) uses radar sensors to detect vehicles present in the driver’s blind spots and Dynamic Radar Cruise Control also helps make driving safer by keeping a constant pre-set distance between you and the vehicle ahead on the open road.
And when it’s time to park, you can use the Parking Support Brake. It features Intelligent Clearance Sonars at the front and rear of the vehicle and at low speeds these will automatically apply the brakes if they sense a collision with a stationary object is possible.
Other safety features include: 5-Star ANCAP safety rating, reversing camera, panoramic view monitor.
